March 20, 1956 @ Al Lang Field www.mickey.mantle.com |
Al Lang Field, St. Petersburg. Mickey hits probably the longest of the Spring, sending the ball way over the right-center field wall. On a chart of the field Bob Mabe indicated the landing point of the ball. That point would have been 541' from home plate, in a park beyond the wall in right-center. He also indicated Mickey's bouncer into the bay on March 12, that one measures 426'. Another home run, no date given, indicated by Moose Skowron, hit the West Coast Inn across the street from the right field foul line. Distance 464'.
